Swim Sock Fitting Guide

Getting the right fit

Getting the right fit is essential for comfort, warmth, and performance in cold water. Our neoprene swim socks are designed to fit snugly, not loosely, and this is intentional.

Think of them as a wetsuit for your feet.

Just like a wetsuit, they rely on a close fit to do their job properly.

How Swim Socks Should Fit

Your swim socks should feel tight when dry.

This is normal.

Neoprene works by trapping a thin layer of water between your skin and the sock. Your body then warms this water, helping to keep your feet insulated. If the sock is too loose, cold water continually flushes in and out, making your feet colder.

A correct fit means:

  • Close contact around the foot and ankle
  • No large air gaps
  • Slight resistance when pulling them on
  • A secure seal at the ankle

They should feel supportive rather than restrictive.

Easy On and Off With the Quick-Zip™ System

A snug fit does not mean struggling to get them on or off.

Our swim socks feature the Quick-Zip™ System, which allows you to put them on and take them off quickly and easily, even with a tight performance fit.

The zip opens the sock fully, reducing resistance when pulling them over the foot and heel. Once zipped up, the sock closes snugly around the ankle to maintain warmth and minimise water flushing.

This means:

  • Fast and easy entry
  • No fighting the neoprene
  • No excessive pulling or stretching
  • A secure fit once zipped

You get the warmth benefits of a tight fit without the usual hassle.

How They Work (Like a Wetsuit)

Swim socks work in the same way as a wetsuit.

They do not keep your feet completely dry. Instead, they allow a small amount of water in, which quickly warms up and is held close to the skin by the neoprene.

If the sock is too loose, that warm layer escapes and is constantly replaced by cold water. A snug fit prevents this, keeping your feet warmer for longer.

Choosing the Right Size

We recommend selecting your size based on your UK shoe size, using the size chart below, which is also on each product page.

If you are between sizes, always size down.

Because neoprene has natural stretch, a slightly tighter fit will mould to your foot after a few uses and perform far better in cold conditions than a loose fit.

How They Should Feel When New

When you first put your swim socks on, you may notice:

  • A tight feel across the foot
  • Firmness around the ankle
  • Slight resistance before zipping

This is expected.

Thanks to the Quick-Zip™ System, getting them on and off remains fast and easy, even when new.

After a few swims, the neoprene will soften slightly and adapt to your foot shape without becoming loose.

Final Fit Advice

A snug fit equals warmer feet.

Treat your swim socks like a wetsuit. They should feel close-fitting, secure, and supportive, even if they feel tight at first.

With the Quick-Zip™ System, you get performance warmth without the struggle.

If you’re unsure between sizes, always size down.
